Hi there, I’m Nicole!
I’m the creator, recipe developer, and traveler behind Nomad Test Kitchen, inspired by 7 years (and counting) of nomadic travel throughout The Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Even after a mishap with a mandoline while cooking Mediterranean food in my fifth grade class (don’t worry, my finger grew back!), I still loved cooking and baking. Twelve years later, a horse accidentally bit my finger on that same hand while I was feeding him an apple during a hike on Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala.
Nonetheless, I fully believe in eating well and traveling often—and I’m happy to report I still have all my fingers.
Nomad Test Kitchen is your go-to resource for globally inspired baking and dessert recipes, sharing and blending cultures, flavors, and techniques from around the world into your own kitchen
What you’ll find on Nomad Test Kitchen
My goal is to show you that experiencing new flavors and cultures doesn’t have to be saved for that once-in-a-lifetime trip. It can happen every day in your own kitchen.
I hope that sharing these recipes and resources will educate and invite others to feel more comfortable exploring other cultures.
On Nomad Test Kitchen, you’ll find globally inspired recipes that blend the flavors of the world. We hope our recipes inspire you to:
- Become curious about an ingredient you saw or read about it, or one you’re seeing for the very first time!
- Discover new dessert ideas from different cultures and share those treats with your friends and family
- Finally use that interesting ingredient that you brought back from vacation and didn’t know what to do with
- Appreciate cultures, traditions, flavors, ingredients, and techniques from around the world
- Book a trip to find more foods you love!
Globally inspired desserts might seem like they require unfamiliar ingredients or complicated techniques to prepare, but the basic elements of cooking remain the same around the globe. By getting a little curious and creative in the kitchen, you’ll soon even trust your instincts to make a recipe inspired by travels of your own.
Difference in measurements between countries
Measuring cups and spoon sizes differ between countries, and in baking recipes, the differences in measurements matter.
On all recipes, I will provide metric (grams) and US customary (cups) measurements in my recipes for ease. However, I highly encourage using a digital kitchen scale to measure all of your ingredients in grams precisely. This allows for a higher degree of consistency no matter where you are in the world.
